Seriously Kawaii is a piece that deals with the ideals that men place upon women in Asian cultures and the obsession with these women in the American media. It deals with the sexuality of these women grouped into three major stereotypes, the seductive, the passive and the cute. These three areas seem to be taboo for a large portion of people in today's world. Whether right or wrong is not the question here, its merely a look into the complexities of it and the way that it is shown in print media. The Japanese in the corner is reminiscent of America's supposed understanding of the Japanese culture saying "Kawaii" in very broken Japanese. This is a mixed media piece consisting of print media, leather scraps, acrylic, and a bit of some dried foilage mixed in there. I hope you enjoy.
